Citizens’ Crime Watch is a nonprofit county-wide crime prevention program funded by the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners, grants and donations. When neighborhood watch is fully operative, you and your neighbors become the “Eyes and Ears” of the local police department, telephoning the police at the first hint of suspicious activity.
-Each Block within Glen Cove would have a "Block Captain"
-The Captain is responsible to complete a phone chain (below) for their one block. This phone chain will be shared with their block
-To be an active block, there is a requirement of having one meeting during a one-year period of time. This meeting needs to be attended by 30% of your block - if there are 10 homes on your block, 3 homes would need to attend the yearly meeting.
-There is the option of attending one area-wide yearly meeting or having a meeting within the block. This can be determined as the program is organized.
If your block is not on the list below, it needs a Captain!
Just download the Kendall Phone Chain document below and gather the contact information for neighbors within your block. Once you have this information, please reach out so we can add your block to the list of blocks with a Captain.
In addition to creating and maintaining the Phone Chain for your Block, you would ensure that your block meets once a year for a Crime Watch Meeting. This meeting can take place anytime in a home or you can opt to attend a yearly Glen Cove wide meeting. At either meeting the police will attend and provide important data and tips for keeping our neighborhood safe.
